Note: The description is given using 4-cylinder models as an example.
1. Remove the sound insulation (see Chapter 11).
2. On all models except TFSI, remove the front bumper (see Chapter 11) and set the hood lock holder to the service position (see Chapter 2).
3. Loosen the tension of the multi-ribbed belt (see Chapter 2) and remove it from the power steering pump pulley.
4. Clamp the power steering hoses (see illustration 20.9), disconnect the suction and pressure lines and allow the power steering fluid to drain into a previously prepared container.
5. On all models except TFSI, remove the power steering pump pulley mounting bolts, holding it from turning with tool 3212 (see illustration).

6. On TFSI models, remove the power steering pump mounting bolts through the holes in its pulley (see illustration).

7. Remove the rear bolt (see illustration) and remove the power steering pump.

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of dismantling the components.
