Warning: Use of the cruise control in heavy traffic conditions (for example, in the city), on slippery, winding, hilly roads, and other driving situations that may require frequent speed changes, may result in loss of vehicle control.
Please note: Using cruise control does not relieve the driver of the responsibility to maintain a speed or distance appropriate to each specific road situation.
Note: On models with manual transmission, when the cruise control is operating, do not engage neutral gear with the clutch pedal released, otherwise the engine speed may increase sharply, which may lead to engine failure.
The cruise control is designed to maintain a constant vehicle speed (not less than 30 km/h) without having to keep your foot on the gas pedal. Cruise control is controlled using the lower left steering column switch (see illustration 18.1)
18.1. Positions of the cruise control switch
When driving downhill, the engine braking effect may be insufficient to maintain the set speed, in which case you should timely switch to a lower gear and brake the car. When going uphill, the car may not reach the set speed if the engine power is not enough.
The indication of the cruise control operation is organised by means of the corresponding green K/L in the instrument cluster (see Section 15).
To make the cruise control remember and start maintaining the current speed of the car, pull the switch (And in illustration 18.1) to yourself (1) through the fixation point (tempostat is being turned on), and then press the (B) button. A green K/L will appear on the speedometer scale in the instrument cluster. With each subsequent pull of the switch up/down, the set supported speed will increase/decrease accordingly by approximately 2 km/h. If you pull the switch up/down and hold it in this position, the set supported speed will increase/decrease accordingly continuously until the switch is released.
To temporarily increase speed (for example, when overtaking) press the gas pedal; after releasing the pedal, the previously set speed will be automatically set and maintained.
Note: If the speed increases by more than 10 km/h for more than 5 minutes after releasing the accelerator pedal, the previously set speed will not be restored - set a new maintained speed if necessary.
To temporarily disable automatic cruise control, pull the steering column away from you without moving it past the locking point. In addition, maintaining the set speed is automatically disabled: when you press the brake pedal or when you press the clutch pedal (models with manual transmission).
To restore the set speed, pull the steering column switch towards you - the cruise control will bring the speed to the set value and maintain it.
To turn off the cruise control, pull the steering column switch away from you, moving it past the fixing point, or turn off the ignition. In this case, the value of the maintained speed stored in the cruise control memory is erased.
