Note: Do not rely entirely on the PDC system, as objects that fall into the blind spot of the sensors are not detected by the system and do not trigger the alarm. Some objects cannot be detected due to the limited physical capabilities of ultrasonic measurements: for example, the drawbar and trailer coupling, as well as thin, low objects and painted surfaces.
The PDC system is installed as additional equipment and is designed to warn the driver about approaching an obstacle during parking. It uses 4 ultrasonic sensors, built into only the rear or each bumper. The side/central rear/central front sensors detect an obstacle at a distance of up to 0.6/1.5/1.0 m, respectively. To fully maintain the functionality of the PDC system sensors, they must be kept clean.
The driver sees the change in distance to the object as a change in the pauses between the PDC system sound signals: the closer the obstacle, the shorter the pause. When the obstacle is less than 30 cm away, the sound becomes continuous. On models with front sensors, the tone and volume of the sound signals can be changed using the diagnostic equipment.
Note: Do not approach the obstacle too quickly, as the PDC system may react too slowly.
The PDC system is automatically activated when the ignition is on, one second after the reverse gear is engaged. On models with front sensors, you need to press the "P" button to turn them on/off (in key block 12 in illustration 14.1) with a built-in indicator. Switching on is confirmed by a short sound signal. If the signal is not given or a long signal is given, the system is faulty or switched off. The PDC system is switched off automatically when the reverse gear is switched off or the ignition is switched off (on models with front sensors - additionally at speeds over 15 km/h). On models with a factory-installed towbar, the rear sensors are disabled when a trailer is towed (the front ones continue to work).
