Note: Before starting the procedure, read the warnings contained in paragraph 1 of this chapter. Do not attempt to disconnect hoses on a hot engine to avoid getting burned.
1. The number, size and purpose of hoses may vary depending on the engine model, but the principles of working with them are the same. Before starting work, make sure you have the necessary hoses and clamps on hand for replacement. It is good practice to replace the clamps each time a hose is removed/installed.
2. First drain the cooling system as described in chapter 1A or 1B. If the fluid is not drained for replacement, it can be drained into a suitable clean container.
3. Before disconnecting the hose, remember its placement under the hood. Loosen the clamps and slide them along the hose away from the connecting pipe. The hose slides easily while it is new. The old one may "stick".
4. Remove the hose by twisting it on the nipple. Note that the radiator connection pipes are very fragile, so do not use excessive force when disconnecting the hoses. If the hoses are stuck tight, it is cheaper to cut them off than to break the radiator. However, first make sure that a new hose is available.
5. When installing the hose, first put the clamps on it, then put the hose on the nozzles. Some hoses have marks for installation - follow them.
6. Before tightening the clamps, make sure that the hose is positioned correctly, slide the clamps onto the pipes, passing them through the thickenings on the ends of the pipes.
7. Fill the system with coolant as described in chapter 1. Start the engine and immediately check for leaks.
8. After several hundred kilometers, check the reliability of the hose connections again.
