1. On models with a 5-cylinder engine, remove the plastic cover in front of the radiator.
2. Guided Chapter 3, paragraph 2, disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Loosen the bolts of the axis of rotation and adjustment of the generator, turn the generator towards the engine.
4. On models with air conditioning and power steering, before removing the alternator drive belt, you will first need to remove the drive belts that bind them.
5. Remove the drive belt from the pulleys.
6. Install the new drive belt on the pulleys.
7. There are two methods for tensioning the drive belt. First method: turn the tensioner rack nut, move the alternator away from the engine until the drive belt deflects only approximately 2.0mm by pressing down with your thumb in the middle between the pulleys. If a used drive belt is installed, the deviation should be 5.0 mm. Tighten the tensioner rack nuts in this position, then tighten the adjustment bolt, pivot bolts, and linkage bolts (photo).
8. The second method requires a torque wrench. First check that the pivot bolt is loose and that the alternator moves freely.
Tighten the tensioner rack nut with a torque of 9.0±1.0 Nm, and mark the position of the generator relative to the adjusting link.
Tighten the pivot bolt and check if the rack nut stays in the same position. If necessary, reposition the nut using a double end wrench. Tighten the adjustment bolt and, if necessary, the connection bolt.
