Battery — removal and installation (Audi 80 B3)

1. The battery is located in the engine compartment on the left side, just behind the bulkhead. On some models it may be equipped with a protective cover.

2. Before disconnecting the wiring from the battery, check if the radio has a security code.

3. Where used, disconnect the valve pipe (photo).



4. Loosen the negative (-) clamp bolt and disconnect the wiring. Move the wiring away from the battery.

5. Loosen the positive (+) clamp bolt and disconnect the wiring (photo) Move the wiring away from the battery.



6. Unscrew the bolt, remove the battery clamp (photo).



7. Lift the battery from the platform, trying not to spill the electrolyte.

8. Reinstall in reverse order. Make sure the battery is oriented correctly and the wiring is connected to the correct clamps. Connect the negative (-) clamp last, do not overtighten the clamp bolts. The curved side of the retaining clamp should touch the base of the battery.
