The electrical system has a voltage of 12 volts with negative ground and has a belt-driven generator with a built-in voltage regulator. The starter is pre-engaged.
When working on the electrical system, always disconnect the wiring from the battery as a precaution against accidentally shorting wires or terminals. The system contains several complex components that can be damaged if supplied with incorrect voltages or if heated to excessively high temperatures.
Before using an electric arc welder on a vehicle, disconnect the wiring from the battery and alternator. Never start the engine with the battery or alternator wiring disconnected.
