2. Guided by Chapter 3, paragraph 2, disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Loosen the generator pivot and adjustment bolts, turn the generator toward the engine (photo). To access the generator on 5-cylinder engines, remove the plastic cover in front of the radiator and the mudguard from under the engine.
4. Remove the drive belt from the generator pulley (photo).
5. Note the location of the electrical wiring on the rear of the generator, then disconnect it (photo). Where necessary, release the cables from the brackets (photo).
6. Remove the pivot and adjustment bolts, disconnect the generator from the engine. On 4-cylinder engines, if desired, the adjustment link can be unscrewed from the cylinder head (photo). Note also that it may be necessary to remove the plug from the drive cover to access the pivot bolt.
7. If necessary, you can unscrew the mounting brackets, and on 4-cylinder engines, remove the rubber bushings. When installing the suspension on 5-cylinder engines, you must first tighten the short bolt.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, adjust the drive belt as described in Chapter 6.
