2. For better access, apply the parking brake, jack up the front of the vehicle, then remove the mudguard from under the engine.
3. Note the location of the wires on the starter solenoid relay, then disconnect them (photo). Unscrew the nut, remove the main wire, and remove the solenoid trigger wire connector. There may also be an additional wire from the main wire clamp.

4. On 4-cylinder engines, remove the bolt securing the front mounting bracket to the cylinder block (photo).

5. Unscrew the mounting nuts/bolts and remove the starter (photo).



6. Installation is done in reverse order. On 4-cylinder engines, first tighten the main mounting bolts, then loosen the front suspension nuts, insert the front mounting bolt and tighten the nuts, then the bolt.
