Table of contents: Oil pump ↓ Oil pressure sensor ↓ Oil filter ↓ Motor oil ↓
The engines have a pressure lubrication system.

Under the action of vacuum, oil is sucked from the oil sump through a mesh filter: oil receiver by a gear oil pump and fed into the oil filter.

The purified oil enters the cylinder block oil line and from there it is supplied to the crankshaft main bearings, to the connecting rod bearings, and through the channels in the cylinder head - to the camshaft bearings. When the oil temperature is above 95°C, the thermostat valve opens and the oil is diverted to the radiator for cooling.

Oil pump

The gear-type oil pump is driven by the intermediate gear. A pressure-reducing valve is located in the oil pump cover.

distance between gear teeth, mm:
  • nominal: 0.05;
  • maximum permissible: 0.20.

Clearance between the outer diameter of the gears and the bore in the pump body, no more than, mm; 0,15.

Length of the pressure reducing valve spring under load 7.2-8.8 kgf, mm: 39

Oil pressure in the lubrication system at a crankshaft speed of 2000 rpm (oil temperature 80°C), not less than, kg/cm²: 2.0

Note: Since July 1985 and in connection with the installation of hydraulic valve lifters on OS, OT and OZ engines, the length of the oil pump gears has been increased from 26 to 30 mm.

Oil pressure sensor

The oil pressure sensor closes the power supply circuit of the control lamp in the instrument cluster when the oil pressure in the lubrication system drops to 0.3-0.6 kg/cm².

Oil filter

The oil filter with a replaceable filter element is connected in series with the main oil line of the engine.

Brand and type of filter element: Mann W 719/5 or Purflux LS 115.

Motor oil

Lubrication system capacity, l:
  • yP engine: 3.0 (including 0.5 l in the oil filter);
  • other engines: 3.5 (including 0.5 l in the oil filter).

Oil used: SAE 5W20, 10W40, 15W40, 20W40, 15W50 or 20W40; by API SE.

Oil change frequency: every 15,000 km with replacement of the oil filter.
