Camshaft
The camshaft has five bearings.
Axial clearance of camshaft, mm:
- nominal: 0.048-0.118;
- maximum allowed: 0.15.
Radial runout of the middle journals of the shaft (to measure, install the shaft with its outer journals on two prisms placed on the surface plate), no more than, mm: 0.94.
The diameter of the camshaft journals of YP, YZ engines, mm: 25.94-25.96.
Diameter of camshaft journals of engines EP, OT, DS, 0Z, mm:
- nominal: 26.00;
- repair size: 25.75.
Note: Since July 1985, due to the installation of hydraulic tappets in the 1.6 L and 1.8 L engines, the diameters of the occipital and nose cam circles were reduced to 38 and 9 mm, respectively.
When the valve timing mechanism is installed correctly, the mark on the camshaft toothed pulley should be at the level of the cylinder head cover gasket, and the mark on the camshaft toothed pulley should be opposite the mark on the intermediate shaft pulley.
Intermediate shaft
The intermediate shaft is driven by a toothed belt from the crankshaft pulley. The intermediate shaft drives the fuel pump, ignition distributor and oil pump.
Intermediate shaft journal diameter, mm:
- front: 42.95;
- back: 41.95.
Timing Belt for Camshaft Drive
Brand and type of belt:
- yP, YZ engines: Pirelli "isoran" 121 R 190;
- eP, DT, DS, D7 engines: Gates 6016, Pirelli 121 R 180.
Number of teeth: 121.
Tooth pitch, mm:
- engines YP, YZ: 9.525;
- engines EP, DT, DS, DZ: 9,530
Belt width, mm:
- yP, YZ engines: 19;
- engines EP, DT, DS, DZ: 18.
Belt length (engines EP, DT, DS, DZ), mm: 1154
The belt tension is considered normal if in the middle of the branch between the pulleys of the camshaft and intermediate shafts the belt is twisted no more than 90° by the force of the thumb and index finger.
