1/7. Bolt.
2. Spacer sleeve: for 4-cyl. engines only.

5. Nut: 15 Nm.

Removal and installation the starter - vehicles with 1.8L and 2.0L TFSI engines
Disconnect the ground wire from the battery with the ignition off. Remove the right engine mount. Unscrew nut "1" and release the ground wire on the engine support bracket. Unscrew the "arrow" bolts and remove the right engine support.
Unscrew screw "1" of line holder "2".
Disconnect plug connection "3" by pushing the fuse back and pressing the release lever down. Disconnect wire "2" from the generator. Unscrew bolts "1" and "4" and remove the starter. Access to "pos. 1" is from above.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. On vehicles with automatic transmission, before installing the starter, it is necessary to check whether the retainer "1" is correctly inserted into the hole for the starter. The retainer should cover the hole for the starter "2" "arrow".
When tightening bolt "2", a spacer sleeve "arrow" must be installed between the starter and the gearbox.
Install the support and engine support bracket on the right. Connect the battery.
Removal and installation the starter - vehicles with 3.0L TFSI and 3.2L FSI engines
Disconnect the ground wire from the battery with the ignition off. Remove the sound insulation by loosening the fastening elements "1, 2, 3, 4". "Arrows" should not be taken into account.
Cars with manual transmission/multitronic gearbox: Remove the front wall of the water drainage box. Remove the front muffler on the right. Unscrew the nuts "arrows" and bolts "1", and move the right catalytic converter to the right.

Remove the right engine mount. Unscrew nut "1" and release the ground wire on the engine support bracket. Unscrew the "arrow" bolts and remove the right engine support.
Disconnect plug connection "3" by pushing the fuse back and pressing the release lever down. Disconnect wire "2" from the generator. Unscrew bolts "1" and "4" and remove the starter. "Pos. 1" is accessible from above.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. On vehicles with automatic transmission, before installing the starter, it is necessary to check whether the retainer "1" is correctly inserted into the hole for the starter. The retainer must cover the starter hole "2" "arrow". Install the mount and the right engine mount bracket.
Cars with manual transmission/multitronic gearbox: Install the right catalytic converter. To replace the exhaust manifold seal, the exhaust manifold must be removed. Install the front muffler on the right. Install the front wall of the water drainage box.
Connect the battery.

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery with the ignition off.
Cars with multitronic gearbox: Remove the diesel particulate filter.

Remove the right engine mount. Unscrew bolts "1" and "2" and remove the turbocharger support.
Unscrew nut "1" and release the ground wire on the engine support bracket. Unscrew the "arrow" bolts and remove the right engine support.
Unscrew screw "1" of line holder "2".
Disconnect plug connection "3" by pushing the fuse back and pressing the release lever down. Disconnect wire "2" from the generator. Remove screws "4". Remove bolt "1" with a long extension from the gearbox side. Remove the starter.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. When tightening bolt "2", a spacer sleeve "arrow" must be installed between the starter and the gearbox.
Install the support and engine support bracket on the right.
Cars with multitronic gearbox: Install a diesel particulate filter.
Connect the battery.

Disconnect the ground wire from the battery with the ignition off. Remove the exhaust pipe. Remove the generator. Remove the right engine mount. Unscrew bolts "1" and "2". Push aside the right lower pipe of the system. cooling. "Pos. 3" should not be taken into account.
Unscrew nut "1" and release the ground wire on the engine support bracket. Unscrew the "arrow" bolts and remove the right engine support.
Disconnect plug connection "3" by pushing the fuse back and pressing the release lever down. Disconnect wire "2" from the generator. Unscrew bolts "1" and "4" and remove the starter. Access to "pos. 1" is from above.
