2. As described in chapter B, dismantle the heat shield, unscrew the bolts and remove the corresponding drive shaft from the gearbox flange. Take the shaft away from the gearbox and tie it up. Wrap the inner hinge with a plastic bag to keep dirt out. Turn the steering to move the shaft away from the flange.
3. Place a container under the gearbox to collect the oil.
4. The flange is held in place by a retaining ring. To remove the flange, the ring must be released. Insert a chisel between the body and the flange, screw a bolt into the flange hole, resting against the chisel. When tightening the bolt, the flange will come out of the gearbox. If the circlip is tight in the groove, rotate the flange 180°and try again.
5. Having removed the flange, remember the depth of the gland in the body and remove the gland by prying with a screwdriver.
6. Remove all traces of dirt from the seat, lubricate the lips of the oil seal with clean gear oil.
7. Install the stuffing box in the body with the sealing lips facing inward. Press it in with a uniformly suitable mandrel or head, leaning only on the hard lips of the stuffing box. If the flange surface is not rubbed by the old gland, install the new gland to the same depth, which is equal to 5.5 mm from the body surface. If the surface is worn, deepen the oil seal by 6.5 mm (a millimeter deeper).
8. Clean the seal and apply multi-purpose grease to the lips.
9. After removing the flank, it is recommended to replace the retaining ring. To do this, clamp the flange in the soft jaws of a vise, remove the old ring and install a new one (pic. 7.9). lightly lubricate the ring.
10. Insert the flange through the oil seal and engage with the differential drive gear until the circlip snaps into place.
11. Install the drive shaft as described in chapter 8.
12. Install the wheel, then lower the car. Check the level and add gear oil if necessary.
