1. Make sure the timing belt tension is correct.
2. Return the cold start accelerator handle to its original position.
3. Set the piston of cylinder No.1 to TDC.
4. Remove the timing belt protective cover.
5. You will return the threaded plug from the pump body, located between the high-pressure fuel lines.
6. Screw in an adapter instead of a plug (see illustration).

7. Connect the adapter pusher to the dial indicator.
8. Fix the indicator in the adapter and adjust it with an offset voltage of about 2 mm.
9. Tap the injection pump body with a light hammer to return the centrifugal regulator to its original position.
10. Rotate the crankshaft slowly clockwise until the indicator needle stops moving.
11. Set the indicator arrow to 0 with an offset voltage of about 1 mm.
12. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the TDC mark coincides with the reference mark on the housing.
13. Read the indicator reading. For cars manufactured before 6/92, the permissible stroke should be within 0.83 - 0.97 mm, and for cars manufactured after 7/92, it should be 0.73 - 0.87 mm. If the readings obtained during measurement do not match the permissible ones, then adjustment must be made.
14. To do this, unscrew both bolts of the retaining console, as well as the bolt securing the fuel injection pump support.
15. Move the injection pump relative to the axis. In this position, the injection pump can be adjusted to start the feed. In this case, a stroke of 0.90 mm should be achieved (cars produced before 6/92.) or 0.80 (cars produced after 7/92.). Allowed tolerance 0.02 mm.
16. Tighten the fuel injection pump to a torque of 25 Nm.
17. Disconnect the adapter and indicator, install a new sealing ring on the threaded plug and screw the plug in with a torque of 20 Nm.
