Cars with a gasoline engine
1 - ignition off, engine off. The steering wheel can be locked.
2 - ignition on.
3 - engine start.
Diesel vehicles
1 - fuel supply is stopped, the engine is turned off. The steering wheel can be locked.
2 - pre-heating. To avoid unnecessary battery overload during engine preheating, do not turn on powerful current consumers.
3 - engine start.
The following instructions apply to all vehicles, both petrol and diesel engines.
Ignition switch position 1
To lock the steering wheel, remove the key from the lock and turn the steering wheel slightly until the steering column stopper audibly clicks.
On vehicles with automatic transmission, turning the key to position 1 and removing it from the lock is possible only if the gearbox control lever is in position P.
Note: If, after removing the key from the lock on a car that is not equipped with a diagnostic unit for the functioning of the main vehicle systems, the headlights, interior lighting, radio or direction indicator remain on, then a buzzer will sound when the driver's door is opened.
Attention! On vehicles with a manual transmission, the key can only be removed from the ignition when the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
Ignition switch position 2
If the key is difficult to turn to this position or does not turn at all, then you need to turn the steering wheel slightly from side to side in order to unlock the steering column in this way.
Ignition switch position 3
In this position, the parking lights are switched on, and large electrical consumers of the on-board network are switched off.
Each time you try to start the engine, the ignition key must be returned to position 1. The restart lock in the ignition lock prevents its gear from engaging with the flywheel ring gear when the engine is already running and thus prevents damage to it.
