1. Tachometer and clock with digital display

Tachometer

During the running-in period, high-speed modes should be avoided.

The red sector of the scale corresponds to the range of maximum revolutions, briefly permissible for a run-in engine warmed up to operating temperature. However, it is recommended to switch to a higher gear or reduce the gas already when the arrow approaches this sector of the scale. Clock with digital indication

The clock with digital indication is combined with a tachometer. To set the clock to real time, turn button 7 to the right or left.

To display the current hour, you need to pull out the button and turn it to the left.

Setting the minutes is done by pulling the button out and rotating it to the right.

If you hold the button turned to the right or left until it stops, the continuous sequential countdown of minutes or hours is implemented.

4. Speedometer

The division of the speedometer scale depends on the engine type. Therefore, in fact, it may not look like the one in the illustration.

Odometers

The upper counter records the total mileage, and the lower one records the daily mileage.

Accuracy of daily mileage counting (last digit of the counter) is 100 m.

The trip meter is reset to zero by pressing the reset button located under the speedometer.

2 - control lights
3 - diagnostic unit for the functioning of the main vehicle systems or control lamps
4 — speedometer with a button to reset the daily mileage
5 - coolant temperature indicator
6 — Instrument lighting control (button for the diagnostic unit for the functioning of the main vehicle systems or a button for the speed limit warning system)
7 - clock setting button
8 — on-board computer
9 — outside air temperature indicator or automatic transmission control lever position indicator
10 — fuel gauge with adjustment head (the adjustment is performed only by the corresponding AUDI workshops)

5. Coolant temperature gauge

The indicator only works when the ignition is on. However, after switching on, it will take some time until the arrow reaches the position corresponding to the actual temperature.

Temperature range corresponding to a cold engine

While the needle is on the left side of the scale, avoid high revs and engine loads

5. Engine operating temperature

During normal driving, the temperature gauge needle should fluctuate within the middle part of the scale.

Under significant engine load and at high outside air temperature, the needle may move further to the right on the scale. If the cooling system indicator light does not flash, this situation is not a cause for concern.

Cooling system indicator light

If the cooling system indicator light starts to blink while driving, this is a signal that the coolant level in the expansion tank has dropped or that the engine is overheating.

In this case, you should stop, turn off the engine and find out the cause of the problem.

6. Instrument lighting controller

When the lighting is on, the brightness of the instrument lighting located on the panel and on the console between the seats can be adjusted by turning the button designated for this purpose.

8. On-board computer

9. Outside air temperature indicator

The indicator works when the ignition is on.

If the display on a vehicle with automatic air conditioning switches to Fahrenheit, the outside air temperature gauge automatically changes to Fahrenheit.

At temperatures from +5 to 0°C, a snowflake symbol appears on the display to the right of the main readings. At outside air temperatures from 0 to -5°C, this symbol appears to the left of the main indication. By displaying the snowflake symbol, the driver is warned of the need to exercise special care due to the danger of ice.

When the vehicle is stationary or when driving at very low speeds, the display may show slightly higher than the actual outside temperature due to the influence of heat emitted by the engine.

9. Indication of the position of the automatic transmission control lever

When the ignition is on, the corresponding display on the instrument panel shows the position of the automatic transmission control lever. In the illustration, the lever is in position P.

10. Fuel level indicator in the tank

The indicator works when the ignition is on. However, after the ignition is on, some time must pass for the arrow to settle to the position corresponding to the actual remaining fuel.

The fuel tank capacity is at least 66 litres, and for the AUDI 80 quattro models – at least 64 litres.

If the pointer has reached the scale sector corresponding to the insurance fuel balance R, then the remainder is approximately 8 liters.
