Tachometer
During the break-in period, high-speed modes should be avoided.
The red sector of the scale corresponds to the range of maximum revolutions that are allowed for a short time for a run-in and warmed up to operating temperature engine. It is recommended, however, that already on the approach of the arrow to this sector of the scale, switch to a higher gear or slow down the gas. Clock with digital display
Hours with digital indication are combined with a tachometer. To set the clock to real time, turn button 7 to the right or left.
To display the current hour, pull out the button and turn it to the left.
The minute setting is done by pulling out the button and turning it to the right.
If you hold the button turned to the right or left until it stops, then the mode of continuous sequential counting of minutes or hours is realized.
4. Speedometer
The division of the speedometer scale depends on the type of engine. Therefore, in fact, it may not look like the illustration shown.
Odometers
The upper counter registers the total, and the lower one registers the daily mileage.
Daily mileage accuracy (last digit of the counter) is 100 m.
The trip meter is reset to zero by pressing the reset button located under the speedometer.
1 - tachometer and digital clock
2 - control lights
3 - block for diagnosing the functioning of the main systems of the car or control lights
4 - speedometer with reset button daily mileage
5 - coolant temperature gauge
6 - instrument backlight control (button for the diagnostic unit for the functioning of the main vehicle systems or the button for the warning system about exceeding the speed limit)
7 - clock setting button
8 - on-board computer
9 - outdoor temperature indicator or indicator of the position of the automatic transmission control lever
10 - fuel gauge with adjusting head (adjustments are only to be made by the appropriate AUDI workshops)
5. Coolant temperature gauge
The pointer only works when the ignition is on. However, after switching on, some time must pass until the pointer is set to the position corresponding to the actual temperature.
Temperature range corresponding to a cold engine
As long as the arrow is on the left side of the scale, increased speed and engine loads should be avoided
5. Engine operating temperature
During normal driving, the temperature gauge needle should fluctuate within the middle part of the scale.
With a significant engine load and high outside temperatures, the needle may deviate further to the right on the scale. If at the same time the control lamp of the cooling system does not flash, then this situation is not a cause for concern.
Control lamp of the cooling system
If the warning light for the cooling system starts flashing while driving, this is a signal that the coolant level in the expansion tank has dropped or the engine has overheated.
In this case, it is necessary to stop, turn off the engine and find out the cause of the problem.
6. Instrument backlight control
When the lighting is on, the brightness of the backlight of the instruments located on the panel and on the console between the seats can be adjusted by turning the button intended for this.
8. On-board computer
9. Outside temperature gauge
The pointer works when the ignition is on.
If, on a vehicle with automatic air conditioning, the display switches to Fahrenheit, the outside temperature gauge automatically changes to Fahrenheit as well.
At temperatures from +5 to 0°C on the display, to the right of the main indications, a symbol in the form of a snowflake is displayed. At an outside temperature of 0 to -5°C, this symbol appears to the left of the main display. By illuminating the snowflake symbol, the driver is warned of the need to take extra care in view of the danger of ice.
When the vehicle is stationary, or when driving at very low speeds, the display may be slightly higher than the actual outside temperature due to the effect of heat generated by the engine.
9. Indication of the position of the automatic transmission control lever
When the ignition is on, the position of the automatic transmission control lever is displayed on the corresponding display on the instrument panel. In the illustration, the lever is in position P.
10. Tank gauge
The pointer works when the ignition is on. However, after switching on the ignition, some time must elapse for the arrow to settle in the position corresponding to the actual remaining fuel.
The capacity of the fuel tank is at least 66 liters, and for AUDI 80 quattro models it is at least 64 liters.
If the pointer arrow has reached the sector of the scale corresponding to the insured fuel balance R, then the remainder is about 8 liters.
