The brake force regulator controls the rear brake pressure depending on the vehicle load. This ensures correct distribution of braking force.
The brake regulator is mounted at the rear of the body and is controlled via a spring from the rear suspension.
Checking the work
The car must stand on its wheels.
With the help of an assistant, inspect the regulator.
Press the brake pedal hard and release it quickly. The brake force regulator should move.
Warning: It is possible that through the hole in the brake regulator, the remains of brake fluid protrude outward. This does not matter. In case of doubt, check for leaks by contacting a specialized workshop.
Adjustment
Caution: Before adjusting the brake regulator, remove the plastic roller from the bolt and lubricate the steel bushing with VAG A05 126 000 05 grease. Then reinstall the plastic roller.
Raise the car, the rear suspension is fully sprung.
The brake system must be filled and bled.
Press the lever on the brake regulator all the way in the opposite direction of travel.
Loosen nut "1".
AUDI 80
Attach spring "2" between the regulator and the plastic roller without gaps.
Tighten nut "1" to 25 Nm.
AUDI 90
Place a 1.0mm drill bit between spring "2" and the plastic roller.
Tighten nut "1" to 25 Nm.
Remove the drill and attach the spring to the plastic roller.
Cars with sports chassis
Cars with sports chassis sit 25 mm lower and have shock absorbers painted blue
Insert a 7.0 mm diameter drill bit between spring "2" and the plastic roller.
Tighten nut "1" to 20 Nm.
Remove the drill and attach the spring to the plastic roller.
Lower the car.
