The operation of the power steering is checked by increasing the force on the pedal to achieve the required braking effect.
Press the brake pedal at least 5 times with the engine off, then start the engine with the brake pedal pressed. The brake pedal should noticeably drop down.
Otherwise, remove the vacuum hose from the power steering and start the engine.
Finally, place your finger on the hose to check for low pressure.
If there is no low pressure: check the hose for leaks and damage, otherwise replace. Tighten all clamps.
100 kW engine and diesel: Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum pump and check with your finger whether low pressure is created in the hose.
If there is low pressure: measure its value, replace the brake booster if necessary (is done in the workshop).
