Note: No repair work may be carried out on the propeller shaft, except for removal and installation, as well as adjustment work. The cardan shaft can be bent without effort until it reaches the intermediate joint. Bending hard to the stop may cause damage to the intermediate joint or bellows. If the propeller shaft is disconnected exclusively from the gearbox or from the rear. main transmission, then it is necessary to tie the cardan shaft by the end of the shaft and pull it up or install the cardan shaft on a support. The cardan shaft can also be smoothly bent until it stops at the intermediate support. Before removing, mark the relative positions of all parts. Reinstallation must be done in the same position, otherwise the imbalance will be too great, which may cause damage to the support and noise. To loosen and tighten the propeller shaft bolts, use the "T10172" counter support with the "T10172/5" adapters. After removing the propeller shaft from the rear. the main transmission cannot be installed when reinstalling it, possibly a balancing disk (a thicker washer between the balance washer and the internal star bolt). In case of complaints (noise, vibration) before replacing the drive shaft, it is necessary to check the intermediate bearing for looseness.
1. Rear main gear.
2. Gasket: replace damaged (bent) sealing ring; a seal with worn rubber coating must be replaced; degrease the shaft with the flange and fit the gasket; the different colors of the sides do not matter during installation.
3. Cardan shaft.
4. Balancing disc: not available on all vehicles; it is probably located between the internal star screw and the balancing washer at the rear. main transmission; if present, this balancing disc must not be reinstalled after the propeller shaft has been removed from the rear. head of transmission.
5. Bolt: Always replaceable; self-locking; threaded holes for screws in flange shafts must always be cleaned (for example, using a tap); in reverse gear; at the gearbox: 30 Nm + 90°.
6. Sealing plate.
7. Intermediate support.
8. Bolt: 20 Nm.

Rear driveshaft. main transmission - moment and sequence, tightening
Always replace the propeller shaft bolts "1". Hold them against turning with the "T10172" counterhold and "T10172/5" adapters. Tighten bolts "1" in 3 stages as follows.

| Stage | Bolts | Tightening torque/rotation angle |
| 1 | "1" | Closest to color dots 30 Nm (1) |
| 2 | "1" | The rest in a row are 30 Nm |
| 3 | "1" | Pull everything one by one at a 90° angle |
(1) This way the CV joint is slightly shifted to the opposite side and the imbalance is reduced.
Propeller shaft heat shield - tightening torque
Tighten the arrow bolts to 24 Nm.
