A modern engine is an expensive design, amateurs are unlikely to be able to repair any components and parts of such an engine. Repair and adjustment of the engine in almost all cases must be carried out in a workshop. This requires special knowledge, instrumentation and other aids.
Even an improperly replaced toothed belt can cause serious damage to pistons and valves. If you are not sure that you can competently carry out work inside the engine, then it is better to refuse self-repair! Repair of the cylinder head and valves is best left to the workshop, as well as troubleshooting bearings and dismantling the crankshaft. However, there are still a number of engine inspection and maintenance jobs that you can do yourself.
Often it is simply impossible to do without the services of a specialized workshop. The workshop has a diagnostic, measurement and information system VAS 5051 for analyzing complex fault cases. This system replaces the VAG 1551 flaw detector, which has been in use for several years.
