1. Remove the cylinder head cover and timing belt guard.
2. Set the piston of cylinder No.1 to TDC.
3. Insert the alignment ruler into the transverse cutout on the rear end of the camshaft (see arrow in illustration).

4. Insert one template of the same thickness between the cylinder head and the installation ruler at both ends (see illustration). The installation of templates eliminates the gap between the cylinder head and the installation ruler, and the camshaft is fixed at TDC and cannot be turned.

5. Lock the fuel injection pump at TDC. To do this, insert stop 2064 into the small hole on the fuel injection pump gear and into the hole in the fuel injection pump console located behind it (see arrow in illustration).

6. Loosen the clamping nut on the timing belt tension roller. Turn the tension roller to the left and thus loosen the timing belt.
7. Remove the V-belt.
8. Remove the belt pulley and protective cover.
9. Remove the timing belt. Installation
10. Loosen the timing belt sprocket mounting bolt on the camshaft by 1/2 turn before installing the new timing belt.
11. Loosen the pinion seat on the crankshaft cone by hitting it with a punch and a hammer. There is a hole in the rear protective cover for this purpose (see illustration). In this position the gear can be rotated on the cone.

12. Make sure that the crankshaft is at TDC and that the camshaft and fuel injection pump are securely fixed.
13. Put on the toothed belt and tighten it. Do not turn the crankshaft.
14. Tighten the timing belt sprocket mounting bolt to a torque of 45 Nm.
15. Tighten the toothed belt. The crankshaft can be turned at this point.
16. Be sure to check the start of the injection pump supply.
17. Replace the protective covers.
18. Install the V-belt.
