Checking the condition of the timing belt



Open the latches of the upper timing belt cover and remove the cover. Using a socket wrench, turn the engine by the damper/belt pulley "arrow".

Check the condition of the toothed belt - cracks, transverse tears, delamination (toothed belt body, cords), chipping of the toothed belt base, frayed cords, surface cracks (synthetic material shell), traces of oil and grease. When checking the condition, pay special attention to the following damage:

A. cracks (coatings)

B. lateral wear
C. frayed
D. cracks (at the base of the tooth)


Instructions. If any defects are found, the toothed belt must be replaced immediately. This will prevent the belt from breaking down and, accordingly, causing malfunctions. Replacing the toothed belt is a repair measure.
