The warm-up process of a TDI engine consists of two phases:
- A) Warm up. Its duration at -30°C is about 28 seconds. If the engine temperature is above 0°C, then the warm-up is not carried out at all,
- b) Escort. Its duration at a temperature of -30°C is about 120 seconds, and at 0°C - about 30 seconds. If the engine temperature is above 0°C. then maintenance is not performed at all.
The preheating system for TDI engines, unlike swirl chamber injection engines, consists of two parts: a control unit and a switching relay. The injection system control unit performs the additional function of preheating the engine depending on the coolant temperature, and the switching relay provides power on and off. The relay is located on the central distribution block under No. 12.
The glow plugs used in the preheating system of TDI engines have two glow plugs and are not self-adjusting. Self-adjustment of candles in this case is not necessary, because they are cooled by the air admitted into the combustion chamber and cannot be heated above 1050°C.
