Withdrawal
Loosen the wheel bolts, raise the front of the car, remove the wheels.
Attention: If the same pads will be installed, they must be marked. Swapping pads from inside to outside and vice versa or to the right or vice versa is unacceptable.
Caution: Repositioning may cause uneven braking. The use of original VW/AUDI pads is recommended. It is imperative to replace all front pads at the same time, even if only one of the pads has reached the wear limit.
Remove cap.
Unscrew the lower guide pin using the SW7 wrench.
Open the brake hose holder on the steering knuckle.
Turn the brake caliper up and lock.
Take out the brake pads.
Installation
Attention: Do not press the brake pedal when the pads are removed, otherwise the pistons will come out of the housing.
Clean the guide surfaces and pad seating in the body shaft with a suitable soft metal brush or clean with a cloth soaked in alcohol. Do not use any solvents containing mineral oils or sharp instruments.
Before installing the pads, check with your fingers for grooves on the brake disc. If necessary, disc brakes can be turned (workshop work), if they are thick enough.
Measure the thickness of the brake discs.
Check the piston boot for breaks. Replace a damaged boot immediately, as penetrating dirt will quickly lead to loss of tightness of the caliper. This requires disassembly of the caliper (workshop work).
Check the fit of the heat shield in the piston.
Drown the piston with a special return device. This can also be done using a strong wooden one; rod (hammer handle), but at the same time paying special attention to ensure that the piston is not warped and the dust boot is not damaged.
Attention: When the piston is depressed, the brake fluid is squeezed out of the brake cylinders into the reservoir. Follow the level. Fluid reservoir, if necessary, suck out the brake fluid.
When suctioning, use a plastic bottle that can only be used for brake fluid. Do not use drink bottles. Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be sucked out by mouth through a hose. Apply suction. After replacing the pads, the brake fluid level in the reservoir should not exceed the MAX mark, as the fluid expands when heated. Leaking brake fluid flows onto the brake master cylinder, destroying paint and causing corrosion.
Attention: If the pads are heavily worn, check the ease of movement of the piston. If the piston stroke is heavy, repair the caliper (workshop work).
Insert the brake pads with the pads facing the disc.
Lower the caliper and secure the brake with a guide bolt with a force of 25 Nm.
Attention: The repair kit includes 2 mounting bolts, which are not used for TEVES brakes.
Put the cap on the guide bolt.
Fasten the wheels. Lower vehicle and tighten wheel bolts crosswise to 110 Nm.
Caution: Press the brake pedal firmly several times until strong resistance appears. In this way, the pads are centered and occupy the appropriate working position.
Check the fluid level in the reservoir and, if necessary, top up to the MAX mark.
Carefully run in new brake pads, for which several times with a small effort on the brake pedal, brake the car from a speed of 80 km / h to 40 km / h. Allow brakes to cool between braking.
Attention: For the first 200 km, do not allow full braking.
