1. The torque converter is a welded unit, if faulty it must be replaced. Only the bushing can be replaced separately.

3. A special tool and a sliding hammer are required to remove the bushing. After installing a new bushing, the diameter must be within the specified limits. Expansion of the bushing is not allowed.

4. Check that the cooling blades on the converter are securely fastened.

5. Install the turbine shaft into the converter and check that the turbine rotates freely.

6. If the fluid was dirty when drained from the pan, drain the fluid from the torque converter before installing the automatic transmission.

7. Prepare a container with a capacity of about 2 liters, a bottle and a tube with an outer diameter of no more than 8 mm.

8. Place the torque converter on a bench, supporting it so that it lies slightly inclined.

9. Cut one end of the plastic tube at an angle so that it will not be blocked if it hits a flat surface, push this end into the torque converter hub until it touches the bottom.

10. Connect a plastic bottle to the other end of the tube, position the bottle below the level of the torque converter and squeeze it. Fluid will be sucked into it, and once the fluid starts to flow out, pull the end of the tube out of the bottle and point it into a large container. Suck out as much fluid as possible from the torque converter. Once assembled and installed, the converter will fill with fluid as soon as the engine starts.
