Setting the ignition timing (Audi 80 B2)

The ignition advance angle to TDC at a crankshaft rotation speed of 900-1000 rpm should be 10°.

Warm up the engine (oil temperature 30-60°C).

Adjust the engine idle speed within 900-1000 rpm.

Disconnect the hose from the distributor's vacuum advance regulator.

Connect the VW 1267 device or stroboscope in accordance with the operating instructions.

Direct the flashing beam of the stroboscope at the crankshaft pulley. If the ignition timing is set correctly, the mark on the pulley should align with the edge of the "Z" protrusion of the pointer on the cylinder block.

To adjust the ignition timing, stop the engine, loosen the locking screw of the ignition distributor flange and return the distributor housing to the required angle.

Tighten the flange lock screw and check the ignition timing again.
