Technical characteristics of the contactless ignition system (Audi 80 B2)

The engine ignition system is battery-powered, contactless, with a nominal voltage of 12 V. It consists of a distributor sensor, a switch, an ignition coil, spark plugs: high-voltage wires, and on some models, an idle code stabilization sensor. The power supply circuit of the primary winding and the ignition coil is interrupted by an electrical switch. Control pulses are sent to the switch from a contactless sensor located in the distributor sensor.



Automatic ignition advance characteristics:

A - characteristic of the centrifugal regulator,
B — vacuum regulator characteristic. When testing the ignition distributor sensor removed from the car on the stand, reduce the values specified in the graph by half. When testing on the car, add the initial ignition advance angle to the specified values.

Initial ignition advance angle to TDC at crankshaft speed of 950 rpm and disconnected hose from vacuum ignition advance regulator: 10°

Ignition coil

Gap between electrodes, mm: 0.6-0.8.
