General information and security measures
The electrical equipment of the engine includes all components of the ignition, starting and charging systems. In view of the fact that, according to their functional purpose, these components are directly related to the operation of the engine, they are considered separately from the components of on-board electrical equipment, such as lighting devices, control devices, etc.
When working on electrical equipment, certain safety precautions should always be observed:
- a) Be careful electrical appliances are particularly susceptible to damage if not handled correctly during inspection, connection and maintenance.
- b) Do not leave the ignition on for a long time with the engine off.
- c) Never disconnect the wires from the battery while the engine is running.
- d) When connecting the wires from the auxiliary power source for emergency start of the engine, observe the polarity.
- e) Always disconnect the negative cable from the battery first and connect last to avoid a short circuit if accidentally touched by a tool while loosening/tightening the terminal clamp.
