Fuel tank

The fuel tank is stamped from sheet steel and installed under the body bottom in front of the rear axle.

Fuel tank capacity, l: 68.

Fuel pump

The mechanical diaphragm fuel pump is driven by a camshaft eccentric located between the exhaust and intake valves of cylinder 1. Only the upper part of the fuel pump housing can be removed to access the mesh filter.

Brand: APG.

Fuel injection pressure at crankshaft speed of 2000 rpm, kg/cm²: 0.20.

Maximum fuel injection pressure, kg/cm²: 0.25.

Air filter

Air filter with air intake noise suppressor, with replaceable dry large-sized filter element, with incoming air heating depending on the outside temperature. Warm air is taken from the exhaust manifold.

Filter element brand: Volkswagen.

Frequency of cleaning the filter element: every 15,000 km.

Frequency of replacement of the filter element: every 30,000 km.

Carburetor Solex 35 PDSIT

Until October 1979, the engine was equipped with a Solex 35 POSIT carburetor. The carburetor is of the emulsion type, single-chamber, with primary and additional idle systems, providing idle speed adjustment without changing the throttle valve opening angle, with a power mode economizer and economizer, a diaphragm and other piston-type accelerator pump, an automatic starting device, and an electromagnetic shut-off valve of the idle system.

Calibration data

Diffuser diameter, mm: 27.

Main dosing system:

  • fuel Jet Marking: X 137.5;
  • emulsion tube marking: 145 Z.

Primary Idle System:
  • fuel jet marking: 42.5;
  • air jet marking: 120.

Additional idle system:
  • fuel jet marking: 40;
  • air jet marking: 104.

Needle valve hole diameter, mm: 1.5.

Thickness of the gasket under the needle valve, mm: 1.5.

Starting clearance of the air damper, mm: 4±0.2.

Starting clearance of the throttle valve, mm: 0.85±0.05.

Crankshaft speed at idle, rpm: 900-1000.

Carbon monoxide (CO) content in exhaust gases, %: 0.5-1.5.

Carburetor Solex 1B1

Since October 1979, the engine has been equipped with a Solex 1B1 carburetor. The carburetor is an emulsion type, single-chamber, with a power mode economizer, economizer, piston accelerator pump, automatic starting device and electromagnetic shut-off valve of the idle system.

Calibration data

Diffuser diameter, mm: 25.

Main dosing system:
  • fuel Jet Marking: X 117.5;
  • air jet marking: 95.

Idle system:
  • fuel jet marking: 52.5;
  • air jet diameter, mm: 1.30.

Econostat:
  • fuel jet marking: 42.5;
  • air jet marking: 120.

Height of the injection tube of the economizer enricher relative to the small diffuser, mm: 24.

Accelerator pump nozzle diameter, mm: 0.3.

Fuel supply by the accelerator pump for 10 cycles, cm³: 15±2.0.

Distance between float and float chamber plane mm: 27.

Needle valve hole diameter, mm: 1.5

Crankshaft speed at fast idle during engine warm-up, rpm: 4300-4700.

Starting clearance of the air damper, mm: 3.5±0.15.

Starting clearance of the throttle valve, mm: 0.8±0.05.
