Use new bolts. When replacing the rear brake caliper, it is not necessary to remove the actuator motor. A new actuator motor is included in the brake caliper delivery set. With the ignition off, connect the diagnostic complex "VAS 5051 B" or "VAS 5052" to the 16-pin diagnostic connector of the vehicle. Turn on the ignition. Release the parking brake. Check the coding and, if necessary, make corrections. The fault memory is interrogated, the specified faults are eliminated and the fault memory is cleared. Select function "053. Parking brake". Select function "006. Basic setting".

Indication on the tester display: In the indication field "1" a request appears to enter the indication group; The input keyboard is displayed in the display field "2".

Enter the number "007" for the "indication group number" from the input keyboard into the display field "2" and confirm the entry by pressing the Q button. (piston backward movement). To exit the input mask, press the green "arrow" button at the bottom left. Turn off the ignition. Install the spacer "V.A.G 1869/2" between the brake pedal and the driver's seat, pressing the brake pedal at least 60 mm. Thanks to this, the valves of the main brake cylinder close, and the brake fluid reservoir does not remain empty. Raise the car. Remove the wheels. Connect the hose of the recovery container to the bleeder nipple of the rear brake caliper. Open the bleeder nipple of the rear brake caliper to relieve pressure in the brake system. Close the bleeder nipple. Spacer "V.A.G 1869/2" do not remove. Disconnect the parking brake connector. Disconnect the brake hose and electrical wiring from the combination bracket on the wheel support. Remove the rear brake pads.

Note: Mark brake linings if they are to be reused. Reinstall in the same position, otherwise uneven braking performance will result. After a long journey, it is recommended to apply the electric parking brake and handbrake. The lining gap is automatic, adjusted approximately every 1000 km, if the EPB is not activated during this section of the journey.

Unbolt the brake line from the caliper. Remove the brake caliper from the car. When replacing the rear brake caliper, it is not necessary to remove the actuator servomotor. A new actuator servomotor is included in the brake caliper delivery kit.

Installation

Use new bolts. Screw the brake line into the brake caliper and tighten the threaded nipple. Install the rear brake pads. Tighten the new bolts "4" of the brake caliper mount. Use a torque wrench with a socket to tighten the bolts "4" "V.A.G 1331/3". Connect the parking brake plug connector only after tightening the bolts. Connect the parking brake plug connector. Secure the brake hose and electrical wiring in the combined bracket on the wheel support. Check that the brake hose and electrical cable are correctly secured in the bracket of the wheel bearing housing. The brake hose and electrical cable must not be released from the bracket on their own. Press the brake pedal hard several times after each brake pad replacement. This is necessary to ensure that the brake pads take their working position. Remove the spacer "V.A.G 1869/2". Bleed the brake system. Install the wheels. Lower the car. Turn on the ignition.

Indication on the tester display: In the indication field "1" a request appears to enter the indication group; The input keyboard is displayed in the display field "2". To exit the input mask, press the green "arrow" button at the bottom left. The fault memory is interrogated, the indicated faults are eliminated and the fault memory is cleared.
