With the ignition off, connect the diagnostic complex "VAS 5051B" or "VAS 5052" to the 16-pin diagnostic connector of the vehicle. Turn on the ignition. Release the parking brake. Check the coding and, if necessary, make corrections. The fault memory is interrogated, the indicated faults are eliminated and the fault memory is cleared.

Select function "053. Parking brake". Select function "006. Basic setting".

In the display field "1" a request for entering the display group appears. In the display field "2" the input keyboard is displayed. Enter the number "007" for the "number, display group" from the input keyboard in the display field "2" and confirm the entry by pressing the Q button. (piston backward movement). To exit the input mask, press the green "arrow" button at the bottom left. Switch off the ignition. Raise the car. Remove the wheels. Disconnect the brake hose and electrical wiring from the combined bracket on the wheel support. Unscrew bolts "16 and 17" on the brake bracket. Remove the brake caliper with brake pads and the brake bracket. Do not hang the brake caliper with the brake bracket from the brake hose, but secure it to the body with a suitable cable tie or wire. Do not load the brake hose with the weight of the brake caliper. With the brake caliper removed, do not press the brake pedal or apply the electric parking brake.



Installation



Use new bolts. Carefully press the brake caliper with the brake bracket and pads into the brake disc. Tighten new bolts "16 and 17" for fastening the brake bracket. Use a standard extension nozzle to tighten the lower bolt "16". The extension nozzle is not required to tighten the upper bolt "17". The mudguard should be slightly pressed to the side. Fasten the brake hose and electrical wiring in the combined bracket on the wheel support. Check that the brake hose and electrical cable are correctly fastened in the bracket of the wheel bearing housing. Spontaneous separation of the brake hose and electrical cable from the bracket is unacceptable. Install the wheels. Lower the car. Switch on the ignition. Indication on the tester display: A request for entering the indication group appears in the indication field "1";The input keyboard is displayed in the display field "2". Enter the number "006" for the "indication group number" from the input keyboard in the display field "2" and confirm the entry by pressing the O button. (bring the pistons together). To exit the input mask, press the green "arrow" button at the bottom left. The fault memory is interrogated, the indicated faults are eliminated and the fault memory is cleared. With the ignition off, disconnect the "VAS 5051 B" or "VAS 5052" tester from the 16-pin diagnostic connector of the vehicle.
