Fig. 15–16. Rear brake caliper: 1 – self-locking bolt, 30 Nm; 2 – brake shoe; 3 – caliper holder with guide pins and protective covers (supplied assembled as spare parts); 4 – bolt (on cars with a steel steering knuckle, tightening torque is 60 Nm, with an aluminum steering knuckle – 70 Nm + additionally tighten by an angle of 90°); 5 – brake disc; 6 – support
The elements of the rear brake mechanism are shown in Fig. 15–16.
Removal
Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on stands.
Be sure to replace all the pads on one axle of the car, even if only one of them is worn out.

Fig. 15–17. Unscrewing the caliper mounting bolts
Unscrew the caliper mounting bolts, holding the guide pin from turning (Fig. 15–17). Remove the caliper and tie the caliper to the rear suspension with soft wire. The brake caliper should not hang on the brake hose. The brake hose should not be stretched or twisted.
If old pads are to be reinstalled, mark them.
Remove the brake pads from the caliper.
Clean the caliper from dust and dirt.
Installation
When installing new brake pads, it is necessary to screw the piston into the caliper. When screwing the piston, the brake fluid is forced out of the brake cylinder into the expansion tank, so constantly monitor the level of brake fluid in the tank, if necessary, pump out the fluid from the tank.

Fig. 15–18. Screwing the piston into the caliper using special tool 3272
To screw the piston into the cylinder, use tool 3272. Position the tool so that its flange enters the grooves of the piston. Rotate the body of the special tool counterclockwise until it stops. Rotate the handle of the special tool clockwise to screw the piston into the caliper (Fig. 15–18).
If you don't have a special tool, screw the piston into the caliper using angled snap ring pliers.
Install the brake pads into the caliper holder, making sure the pressure springs are vertical. If you are installing old pads, make sure they are installed in the same position as before removal.
Install the caliper, screw in the new guide pin mounting bolt and tighten it to 35 N·m. One new bolt for each caliper is included with each set of brake pads.
Install the rear wheels and lower the vehicle.
Check the brake fluid level and top it up to normal if necessary.
Press the brake pedal to engage the brake pads.
