Note: When the friction lining of one of the linings wears down to the minimum permissible thickness, both pairs of brake shoes must be replaced simultaneously. Use only the shoes of the brand specified by the manufacturer.
Removal

Remove the brake drum (see section "Rear suspension").
Remove the lock washers 1 of the brake shoe guide springs using pliers.
Remove brake pads 2 from the lower support by hand.
Remove the lower tension spring 3.
Disconnect the parking brake cable 4 from the lever 5.
Using pliers, disconnect tension spring 6 from wedge 7 of the automatic clearance adjustment device between the shoes and drum. Unfasten the upper tension spring 8 of the shoes.
Remove the brake pads.
Clamp the expansion bar 9 of the parking brake system drive in a vice together with the pressure brake shoe and disconnect the buffer spring 10.
Clamp the wheel cylinder pistons with special pliers or secure them with wire.
Installation
Connect the buffer spring 10 and install the pressure brake shoe onto the expansion bar 9 of the shoes.
Install wedge 7 with the protrusion and the side of the brake mechanism shield.
Install the release brake shoe with the 5 parking brake drive lever on the release bar.
Connect the upper tension spring 8.
Connect the cable to the parking brake lever.
Install the brake pads onto the wheel cylinder pistons.
Install the brake pads on the lower support.
Connect tension spring 6 to wedge 7.
Install the brake shoe guide springs and lock washers.
Install the drum and adjust the clearance in the wheel hub bearings as specified in the section "Rear suspension".
Press the brake pedal once fully to automatically set the gap between the pads and the drum.
Rear brake details: 1 - limiter; 2 - brake shield; 3 - brake pads; 4 - tension springs; 5 - brake shoe clamping device; 6 - tension spring and wedge for automatic adjustment of the gap between the pads and the drum; 7 - expansion bar; 8 - Parking brake drive cable; 9 - wheel cylinder.
