Removal and disassembly
Raise the rear of the car, place it on stands and remove the rear wheel.
Remove the cap, cotter pin and remove the toothed stopper.
Unscrew the hex nut and remove the locking washer.
Using a screwdriver inserted through the threaded hole for the wheel mounting bolt, lift up the automatic clearance adjustment bar between the pads and the drum.
Press the hub, which is made integral with the brake drum, off the axle, making sure that the inner bearing rings do not fall out.
Remove the inner ring of the outer roller bearing.
Remove the mudguard ring, which cannot be reused.
Remove the inner ring of the inner roller bearing.
Using a brass mandrel, first press out the outer ring of the inner roller bearing, then using a suitable mandrel, the outer ring of the outer roller bearing.
Resurface the brake drum and check the condition of the parts. Replace worn parts. Inspect the brake drum. If there are deep scratches or excessive ovality on the working surface, bore the drum on a machine, then grind the drum with fine-grained abrasive materials.
Assembly and installation
Press the inner ring of the outer roller bearing into the hub using a mandrel, then the inner ring of the inner roller bearing.
Press in the new dirt-deflecting ring until it stops.
Press in the outer ring of the outer roller bearing, then the outer ring of the inner roller bearing.
Press the hub onto the axle, install the locking washer and tighten the hub hex nut.
Adjust the hub bearing clearance as shown below.
After adjusting the clearance, install the toothed stopper and secure the hub nut with a new cotter pin.
Put on the hub cap, filling it with 10 g of consistent grease.
