Removal and installation the differential
The differential can be removed and installed without dismantling the shift mechanism, primary shaft, secondary shaft, pinion gear, and gearbox cover. When replacing the final drive cover, the differential tapered roller bearing pretension should be adjusted.
1. Bolt: 24 Nm;steel bolts (M8; length 25 mm); 3 pcs.; use with adhesive fixer -AMV185101 A1-.
2. Left shaft with flange: with support and ball bearing.
3. Gearbox housing: can currently only be replaced together with the differential and pinion gear.
4. Shaft seal: for left shaft with flange; replace.
5. Differential with driven bevel gear: The driven bevel gear cannot be separated from the differential; the differential bevel pinions cannot be replaced.
6. Sealing ring: always replaceable; lubricate with transmission oil.
7. Main gear cover: replace.
8. Bolt: 24 Nm;steel bolts (M8; length 42 mm); 10 pcs.
9. Retaining ring: always replaceable.
10. Right shaft with flange: press in using the "VW 295" mandrel.
11. Shaft seal: for right shaft with flange.
12. Retaining ring.
13. Ball bearing: for left shaft with flange; replace.
14. Support bracket: for left shaft with flange; replace.
15. Left shaft with flange.
