Before removing the steering wheel from the steering column, use the VAS 6458 steering wheel calibration device to bring the steering wheel to a strictly horizontal position. Set the wheels to the straight-ahead position. Set the steering wheel as far back as possible. Use the full range of steering column adjustment for this purpose. Remove the airbag module. The steering wheel should be removed and installed in the center position (wheels straight ahead). Remove bolt "2." Mark the position of the steering wheel/steering column with a marker. Remove steering wheel "3" from the steering column.
Installation
Installation in reverse order. Before installing the steering wheel, make sure that the wheels are straight ahead. When installing a removed steering wheel: ensure that the marks on the steering column/steering wheel are opposite each other. Installing a new steering wheel (unmarked): the steering wheel should be set in the middle position (the steering wheel spoke should be in the horizontal position and the wheels in the "straight" position). Install the steering wheel. Install the airbag module. Take a test drive. If the steering wheel is not level, you need to remove it again and reposition it on the steering column splines.
