A well-maintained engine consumes so little oil that oil does not need to be topped up at all between individual maintenance changes, and if oil is topped up, then in small quantities. However, this is only true if you change the oil regularly and do not overload the engine due to a sporty driving style.
The engine consumes oil as some of the oil enters the combustion chamber and burns in it. A leaky engine, defective valve stem seals, incorrectly installed piston rings, and too much clearance between the valve guide and valve stem increase oil consumption. However, if the oil level between the two measurements does not fall, then this is not yet a reason for joy. This may mean that the engine oil is diluted with fuel and condensate, which reduces the lubricity of the oil. This occurs primarily in winter when transporting short distances. In this case, the oil should be changed more often, without waiting for the next period, approximately every 3,000 km or once every four months.
When topping up the oil can be mixed with each other. However, in the case of durable oils, they can be topped up with no more than 0.5 liters of another brand of oil.
