The indicator light is on
The indicator lamp lights up not only when the oil pressure is too low. In this case, under some circumstances, engine parts are not sufficiently lubricated. This occurs, for example, when the vehicle travels at high speed on a curve with too low oil pressure. In this case, the pump sucks air from the oil pan instead of oil, the pressure drops sharply, and this can lead to serious damage to the bearings.
If, after driving fast on the freeway or driving uphill, the low oil pressure indicator flashes at idle, this indicates that the pressure has dropped below normal due to overheating and thickening of the oil. If the light goes out when you press the accelerator pedal, then no problems should arise.
Low oil pressure warning light on all the time
Stop the car immediately, turn off the engine.
Check the oil level first.
If the oil level is low, drive slowly to the nearest gas station and add oil. Check to see if the warning light goes out after this.
In all other cases: tow the machine to the nearest workshop and determine the cause of the problem. This eliminates the risk of serious engine damage.
