Warning! When working with devices that are part of the engine management system, remember that the fuel system is under pressure. Before loosening hose connections or opening the test lead, place a rag over the connection. Then, carefully remove the hose or cap to relieve the pressure.
To avoid injury and/or damage to the ignition and fuel injection system, observe the following:
- Do not touch or remove high voltage wires while the engine is running.
- Connect and disconnect ignition and fuel injection system wires, including instrument wires, only with the ignition off.
- If you want the engine to idle but not start (for example, when measuring compression pressure), remove the connectors from the injectors and the powerful final stages for the ignition coils. After completing the work, contact the workshop to interrogate the fault recorder.
- To avoid damage to the control unit, disconnect and connect the battery only when the ignition is off.
- When towing a vehicle with a faulty ignition system, disconnect the wires from the electronic control unit.
