Warning: Before starting the procedure, read the warning in chapter 12 regarding the components of the SRS system (airbags).
Withdrawal
1. Remove the airbag (heeding the warnings), as described in chapter 12.
2. Set the wheels to straight ahead and secure the steering lock.
3. Turn away screws of fastening, remove the top casing from a steering column.
4. Locate the wiring connector of the airbag contact group and disconnect it (pic. 14.4). On models with a multifunction steering wheel, disconnect the wiring connector from the switch and heating element.
5. Loosen the nut or bolt (what is provided) steering wheel mounts and mark the wheel alignment against the shaft (pic. 14.5). Discard the bolt / nut, new ones are required for installation.
6. Remove the steering wheel from the splines of the shaft, being careful not to damage the wiring of the contact group. When removing the steering wheel, do not rotate the contact group. Sew it on with duct tape to keep it off (pic. 14.16, a, b).
Installation
7. Installation is the reverse procedure. Pay attention to the following (pic. 14.7):
- A) Align the steering wheel marks with the steering shaft.
- b) Tighten the new mounting bolt/nut to the specified torque.
- V) Install the airbag as described in chapter 12.
