Removal
Application: Do not under any circumstances operate the vehicle with the front bumper removed, as the rest of the vehicle body will not be able to support the engine securely.
1. Open the hood.
2. On each side of the vehicle, remove the screws and detach the rear ends of the bumper from the mudguards (Fig. 9.2).

3. Press the latches and remove the grilles from both sides of the bumper (Fig. 9.3).

4. If bumper-mounted fog lights are installed, remove them as described in paragraph 7 of Chapter 12 (if necessary). On some models, an outside temperature sensor is mounted in the rear surface of the bumper. Disconnect its wiring connector.
5. Unscrew the two lower bumper mounting bolts (Fig. 9.5).

6. Carefully remove the bumper towards the front of the vehicle. If headlight washers are installed, before removing the bumper completely, move it so that the washer hose can be disconnected from the bumper-crossmember joint. If the bumper is "stuck", release its rear ends from the mounting brackets one at a time by pulling the lower part of the end of the bumper slightly forward and turning it up and away from the wing (fig. 9.6, a, b).
Note: The height of the bumper can be changed by adjusting the position of the threaded bushings inside the bumper mounting tubes.

7. If required, front spoiler (if installed) can be removed from the lower part of the bumper by removing the split rivets and pressing the latches. To remove the split rivets, press out the central pin and use pliers to remove the rivet body. Install the split rivets as follows: insert the body, then flush with it the central pin.
8. The bumper shock absorber tubes can be removed from the body by unscrewing the mounting bolts. When reinstalling, tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Installation
9. Installation - reverse procedure. Tighten the bumper mounting bolts to the specified torque. Check the operation of the headlight washers, fog lights and outside temperature sensor (if installed).
