1. Check the condition and tightness of fastening of all parts of the air intake (hoses, gaskets). Due to air leakage, the change in the number of engine idle speeds can be so significant that the stabilization valve will not be able to bring them back to normal.
2. Interrogate the data store of the self-diagnosis system. Perhaps the system has another defect. The conditions for performing the idle test are correctly adjusted ignition, a warm engine, and properly functioning fuel injection and ignition systems. When checking, all consumers of the on-board network must be turned off. The radiator fan should not be running.
3. Remove the crankcase ventilation hose from the distributor and plug it with a plug.
4. Pull out the engine oil level indicator, cover the dipstick hole with a rag.
5. Clamp the hose from the throttle valve to the EVAP valve above the air inlet hose.
For a car enthusiast, an independent CO check is hardly justified, given that it is mandatory during a technical inspection, and besides, the car owner is unlikely to have a gas analyzer at his disposal.
6. Install the gas analyzer in the CO measuring tube located in the front of the engine compartment. Make sure the gas analyzer has an airtight fit on the tube.
7. Disconnect the lambda probe plug.
8. Start the engine and let it idle. The gas analyzer should show 0.1-1.1%. If necessary, correct with the CO adjustment screw. To do this, remove the plug from the CO adjustment screw.
9. Drill a hole with a diameter of 2.5 mm in the plug and screw a screw with a diameter of 3 mm into this hole.
10. Remove the plug with pliers.
11. Press the accelerator pedal after the adjusting screw has been turned, and then check the reading on the gas analyzer.
Attention! The accelerator pedal can be pressed only after the key with which the CO adjustment was performed is removed from the adjusting screw.
Note: Self-checking of CO is usually not so relevant for a car enthusiast, given that it is mandatory to carry out a workshop. In addition, a motorist, as a rule, does not have a device for measuring CO.
