Removal
Remove the oil pan.
Unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the oil pump.
Examination
Disassemble the oil pump. The maximum lateral clearance in the gear engagement can be 0.05-0.02 mm.
Check the clearance with a steel ruler and a flat feeler gauge. The maximum value is 0.15 mm.
Installation
Unscrew the inlet pipe from the pump cover and clean it with gasoline.

Observe and insert the oil pump.
Tighten the mounting bolts to 10 Nm and 20 Nm respectively.
Install the crankcase oil pan.
Drain plug: Replace the gasket, tighten the bolt with a torque of 30 Nm.
5-cylinder engine
Removal
The oil pump is located at the front of the engine block and is driven by a toothed belt. A special tool is required to remove the oil pump.
Loosen the V-belt of the pump, generator and air conditioning compressor.
Unscrew the power steering pump and set it aside, plugging the hoses.
Insert the VAG-2084 holder. Loosen the central bolt of the vibration damper with the VAG-2079 tool.
Remove the timing belt.
Caution: Do not rotate the crankshaft or camshaft any further.

Remove the exhaust damper with the toothed belt pulley.
Remove the oil level dipstick.
Raise the car.
Drain the engine oil.
Remove the oil pan.
Unscrew the oil intake pipe. First bend the plate on the bolts.
Unscrew the oil pump.
Installation
Replace the oil pump sealing ring. Lightly lubricate the lips of the gasket and its outer edge. Press in the gasket.
Replace the oil pump only as a set.
On the oil pump gears, the marking points in the direction of the cover. If the cover shows signs of wear, it should be replaced.
Replace the oil pump gaskets, install the pump and tighten the bolts to 10 Nm.
Caution: For the oil inlet pipe bolts, use a new protective plate, bend the plate and lock the bolts.
Install the oil pan.
Install the timing belt.
Install the timing belt cover. Install the vibration damper. Cover the adjacent (to the crankshaft) surface with sealing paste VAG AMV 188 001 02 or anti-corrosion agent Loctite 573.
Apply the same product to the vibration damper bolt.
Insert the holder. Put the torque wrench on the extension 2079, and it should be on the same axis with the torque wrench. Tighten the bolt with a force of 350 Nm.
Note: This tightening torque value is only applicable when using the VW-2079 extension.
Screw on the servo control pump.
Install and tension the V-belt.
Fill with oil, insert the oil level dipstick.
Perform a test drive and check the oil pan for leaks.
