In this control system, the injection and ignition systems are combined in one control unit. Precise regulation of the injection quantity and ignition timing is carried out using signals from sensors such as, for example, the coolant temperature sensor or the knock sensor. The pressure in the system, limited by the membrane pressure regulator, is 6.1-6.6 bar in KE-Motronic. The pressure required to open the injection valve is 3.7-4.8 bar. This pressure is maintained even when the engine is stopped. This prevents the formation of steam locks in the fuel system.
