Flywheel/drive disc — removal, inspection and installation (Audi 80 B3)

1. The procedure is similar to that described in Part A, Chapter 14, but note the position of the flywheel/drive plate relative to the crankshaft, as the mounting bolt holes are not offset (photo).



2. If the flywheel is replaced on a 20-valve engine, two new timing pins must be installed. Additionally, the ignition sensor and engine speed sensor must be adjusted so that there is a gap of 0.50-1.25 mm between the timing pin and the starter ring gear. Use a feeler gauge to make the adjustment.
