1. Check that the top of the block is perfectly clean, then place a new gasket on it, with the part number or mark "OBEN TOP" up.
2. Check up that the surface of a head of the block of cylinders was absolutely pure. Insert two long rods or pieces of pins into the head bolt holes at opposite ends of the block, place the gasket (photo). Lower the head onto the block, remove the guide pins and insert the bolts and washers. Do not use compound compound when installing the cylinder head.
3. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in fig. 1.18 or 1.19, in three stages with the torque specified in the Specification.
4. Position the rear timing belt cover and gasket in front of the cylinder head and block, tighten the mounting bolt and racks.
5. Install the water pump as described in Section 2.
6. Install the camshaft (s) and hydraulic tappets as described in Chapter 39.
