Front oil seal
1. Remove the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket as described in Chapter 10.
2. If a special tool is available, the oil seal can be replaced without removing the casing, otherwise the casing must be unscrewed and removed (including corresponding pallet bolts) and remove the gasket. If the sump gasket is damaged when the shroud is removed, the sump will need to be removed and a new gasket installed. However, install the drip tray after fixing the casing.
3. Remove the old oil seal from the casing, then lower the new one into the engine oil and drive it into the casing with a bar or socket. Make sure the closed end of the gland is facing out.
4. Install the casing with a new gasket, tighten the bolts evenly in a diagonal sequence.
5. Install the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket as described in Chapter 10.
Rear oil seal
6. Remove the flywheel/drive plate as described in Chapter 14.
7. Next, follow steps 2-4 inclusive.
8. Install the flywheel/drive plate as described in Chapter 14.
