Check the air pressure in your tires regularly; insufficient pressure increases wheel resistance, which in turn causes additional fuel consumption, increases the intensity of tire wear, and worsens the stability of the car while driving.
When carrying luggage on the roof of a car, avoid high speeds. Bulky luggage increases air resistance.
Free the luggage compartment from excess cargo. This is especially important when driving in the city, when you have to stop and pick up speed often, and every extra kilogram of weight requires additional fuel consumption.
The intensity of engine oil consumption is also directly dependent on the engine load and crankshaft speed. The norm should be approximately 1.5 liters per 1000 km.
An unrun-in engine has slightly higher oil consumption. The most economical oil and fuel consumption and maximum engine power are possible only after 5,000 km of running.
In addition to transporting passengers and luggage, the vehicle can be used to tow trailers.
Driving with a trailer requires additional effort not only from the car, but also from the driver.
To drive in this mode, the car must have additional equipment.
If the vehicle is supplied together with the manufacturer's towing device, there is no need for additional equipment. Just remember to connect terminal 54 to the towing device socket if you are going to use large consumers of electricity.
The instrument panel has a special indicator lamp for trailer turn signals.
Recommendations for operating a vehicle with a trailer
If the mirrors included with the vehicle do not provide a reliable view of the space behind the towing hitch, install additional side rear-view mirrors and adjust them correctly.
Do not exceed the trailer's maximum load capacity.
When driving uphill, remember that the rules specified in this section "technical characteristics of the car" the maximum trailer load standards are based on a 10 or 12% incline angle. If the load is below the norm, steeper inclines can be overcome.
Calculations of standard indicators were made taking into account the movement of the car at an altitude of up to 1000 meters above sea level. When driving on roads above this level, due to air discharge, the engine power decreases, and accordingly, the traction force of the car on the rise. Therefore, with each subsequent increase of 1000 meters above sea level, the calculated permissible load of the towing device should be reduced by 10%.
Also, do not exceed the maximum support load of the drawbar on the coupling head.
When loading a trailer, place the heaviest items as close to the axle as possible and secure them securely. The weight of the towing hitch increases the weight of the vehicle, so take this into account when calculating the load.
Check the tire pressure of the car and trailer. It must comply with the required standards.
Before you start driving, adjust the headlights to the correct angle. For cars with automatic adjustment, simply turn the regulator to the appropriate position.
Recommendations for driving a car with a trailer
To achieve maximum driving performance of a vehicle with a trailer, it is necessary to adhere to the following recommendations:
If possible, try not to drive an empty car and a loaded trailer. In cases where it is necessary, distribute the load as best as possible, taking into account the shift in the center of gravity, and drive at low speed.
Follow the requirements of the traffic regulations. They indicate the permissible speed, contain certain restrictions, etc. For example, in Germany the speed limit with a trailer is 80 km/h. At the same time, a higher speed is allowed, but the trailer load should not exceed 1000 kg.
As the speed increases, the stability of the trailer decreases. Therefore, do not develop high speed in poor road and weather conditions.
The stability of different trailer modifications is not the same, and largely depends on the type and quality of the chassis. Therefore, even with a small load, be careful and cautious.
When you feel the trailer starting to skid while driving, immediately reduce speed. Do not try to "pull" it by increasing speed.
It is very important to brake in time! For trailers with brakes, braking should begin smoothly, and then harder. This will help avoid jolts. On descents, switch to a lower gear in time, brake with the engine.
When shifting gears and changing engine speed, the cooling intensity does not increase, the electric fan operates in autonomous mode. Therefore, on climbs, including with a trailer, do not shift to a lower gear until the car begins to noticeably slow down and is unable to overcome it in a higher gear.
Note: It is advisable to run in the vehicle without a trailer. If the trailer is used frequently, the intervals for technical inspections and maintenance of the vehicle should be reduced.
