1. Apply the parking brake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on axle stands.

2. Remove the affected front wheel. Install a clamp on the brake line that goes to the brake caliper. This will reduce fluid loss during the next procedure.

3. Loosen the hydraulic hose connection, but do not completely remove it at this stage.

4. On the Teves caliper, remove the covers from the guide pins, then unscrew the pins.

5. On the Girling caliper, lock each guide pin with a double-ended spanner and remove the clamp bolts.

6. Raise the caliper, unscrew it from the hydraulic hose. Plug the end of the hose.

7. If necessary, unscrew the caliper suspension frame from the wheel bearing housing.

8. Reassemble in reverse order. Make sure all mating surfaces are clean, tighten the bolts to the specified tightening torque Specification. Securely tighten the hydraulic hose connection. Before installing the caliper hanger bolts, clean the special compound on the bolts. Finally, bleed the hydraulic system as described in Chapter 17. If the fluid loss was minimal, it will be enough to bleed only one caliper.
