1. Bolt: replace, 9 Nm.
2. Balance shaft: exhaust side; must be replaced after removal; lubricate the support with oil.
3. Needle bearing race: Only races of one color are allowed to be installed.
4. Balance shaft tube.
5. Cylinder block.
6. Balance shaft seal on the intake valve side.
7. Balance shaft: intake side; must be replaced after removal; lubricate the support with oil.
8. Needle bearing race: on the exhaust valve side; it is allowed to install clips of only one color.
9. Bolt: replace, 9 Nm.

Removal and installation the balance shaft from the intake side
Remove the timing belt from the system pump. cooling. Remove the upper timing chain cover. Remove the lower chain drive cover. Remove the camshaft chain drive. Remove the balance shaft drive chain. Remove intermediate shaft sprocket "1".
Unscrew bolt "2" of the balance shaft from the intake valve side and remove the balance shaft.
Installation
Lubricate the balance shaft bearings "arrows" with oil.
Install the balance shaft on the intake side and tighten bolt "2". Replace and lubricate the seal with oil. ring "1". Lubricate the support pin with oil and insert it, the mounting pin "arrow" of the support pin must be inserted into the hole in the cylinder block. The intermediate gear needs to be replaced. Otherwise, the tooth profile clearance will not be adjusted, which will lead to engine damage. The new intermediate gear is coated with a varnish that will soon wear off and the tooth backlash will automatically adjust.
Apply colored "arrow" marks to the side surfaces of the intermediate gear teeth. Insert the intermediate gear so that the marks on the balance shaft are positioned between the marks on the gear teeth.
Tighten the intermediate gear mounting bolt "1". Check the marks on the intermediate gear and balance shaft "arrow". Installation is in reverse order. Install the balance shaft drive chain. Install the camshaft chain. Install the lower chain drive cover. Install the upper drive chain cover. Install the tensioner for the poly V-belt. Install the poly V-belt. Replace the balance shaft seal on the intake side. Install the toothed belt of the system pump. cooling.
Replacing the balance shaft seal on the intake side
Remove the timing belt from the system pump. cooling. To collect leaking oil, place a rag under the oil pressure sensor. Unscrew the oil pressure sensor, level 3 "F447" "2" using a 24 mm swivel wrench "T40175".
Remove drive gear "1".
Press screwdriver "1" into area "2" of shaft gasket "arrow B". Press out gasket "arrow A". Clean working and sealing parts. surfaces.
Lubricate the sealing surface of balance shaft "2" with transmission oil. Place gasket "1" on the balance shaft. Signature "Outer Side" (or "Outside") "the arrow" should be read from the outside.
The drive pinion bolt has a left-hand thread. Install the "T10353/1" mandrel onto the shaft seal "1" and press it into the cylinder block until it stops with bolt "2", while not distorting the shaft seal.
Install the toothed belt of the system pump. cooling. Fill with coolant.
Removal and installation the balance shaft on the exhaust side
Remove the upper timing chain cover. Remove the lower chain drive cover. Remove the camshaft chain drive. Remove the balance shaft drive chain. Unscrew bolt "1" of the balance shaft from the exhaust valve side and remove the balance shaft.
Installation
Check the position of the balance shaft pipe, the "arrow" holes should be directed towards the chain.
Lubricate the balance shaft bearings "arrows" with oil.
Install the balance shaft on the exhaust side. Before tightening bolt "1", make sure that the balance shaft fits tightly against the engine crankcase. If the balance shaft does not fit tightly, the balance shaft tube must be replaced. Installation in reverse order. Install the balance shaft drive chain. Install the camshaft chain. Install the lower chain drive cover. Install the upper drive chain cover. Install the tensioner for the poly V-belt. Install the poly V-belt.
